We have purchased many items on eBay and it still astounds me how many sellers do not include an invoice with the order. This is a very cheap medium for advertising your store / auctions, let alone a presenting a more "professional" image.
We offer a slightly colorful invoice that includes our store URL twice (blurred on the sample for board posting policies), information about customer service, a tag line, and slight description of our product line.
Here is what our current invoice sheet looks like:
Just about any graphics / word processing program can be used to create these. Personally, we use Print Shop Pro and Corel Photo Paint.
We print these before-hand and then print the invoice information (at the link below) over the top.
From Selling Manager (free with a basic store) you can print invoices and packing slips by clicking on "Items Awaiting Shipping", checking the boxes next to the orders, and clicking "Print". Easy directions appear after that.
We usually print 2 copies of each order. One on the color invoice for the customers order and then one basic invoice to keep for our records. Keeping an invoice for your records will help quite a bit when it comes tax time.
I believe that these invoices that promote the store (in addition to other things) help us continually receive a 35% to 50% return customer rate.
Hope this gives you some ideas .....
